Rob Guiver takes the Motorpoint British Supersport Cup championship

Rob Guiver sealed the Cup championship win at Brands Hatch this weekend after dominating for the majority of the season. Guiver has won more Cup races than any other rider and been on the podium at almost every round.

It was feared that with a few rounds to go Guiver might lose out because of the championship rules that Cup riders must drop the points from their three lowest scoring rounds. The Ace Cafe T3 Racing rider still had a strong enough lead despite this and took the title.

Guiver got a good start to the race from 24th and managed to pick off eleven riders to finish in 13th, he said: “It was a very difficult race, obviously mixed conditions. We did one lap of the race and it then got stopped for rain, I gambled with a wet front and a slick rear. It paid off though, I wasn’t too confident in the conditions but I didn’t need to stick my neck out for anything because I knew I was safe in the championship.

“I was involved in a couple of battles but I kept having some big moments too, so I was just focusing on bringing the bike home. I’m so pleased with how the championship has gone though, being able to take the Cup title is fantastic.”

Guiver has now been named champion for the second year in a row after being made Triumph Triple Challenge champion in 2012 and being taken on by the Tony Scott, director of T3 Racing for 2013, he commented:

Team manager, Ricky Chadwick commented: “It’s been a typical championship with highs and lows, but at the end of the day it’s been our consistency which has paid off. Rob finishing nearly every race has made us secure the championship.”

Luke Jones, who was also riding for the Ace Cafe T3 Racing team this weekend, got a great start to the race and took the lead before it was red flagged for rain. On the restart he managed to get a good start but Alastair Seeley got the holeshot and Jones followed in second.

On lap three Jones outbraked himself and went back to eight place and had a disaster moment on lap four when he went down at Druids but him and the bike are both fine.

The British Supersport season has now come to an end but the team will be working hard over the winter and back in 2014. For more updates on what the guys are up to find T3 Racing on Facebook or follow @T3Racing on twitter.
