Project: Ace 904S

Built without compromise, styled to perfection, engineered with excellence and, of course, attention to detail. The 904S represents the pursuit of perfection, as individual as you and totally timeless.

The very essence of “Being British” pulses through the 904S with every single component modified, developed and manufactured right here in Britain. Built by hand and designed by specialists, even to the untrained eye it is unmistakable as something truly special.

This motorcycle is a collaboration of minds; bespoke beauty has been crafted with high-spec engineering and presented in jaw-dropping style. Its classic lines and subtle tones, paired with a modern engine and chassis performance, set it aside.

Tony Scott of T3 Racing, creator of the Thruxton 904S, pledged at its inception that this would be a very limited edition run. Only 15 will ever be built and all the components added would be designed and built from scratch using the best materials and engineered by experienced British companies with pedigree.

The mass-produced Thruxton 900 EFI was the donor bike for the 904S. The only existing parts of the original bike used were the chassis and engine and even that was to be heavily modified. The revamped twin-cylinder engine now boasts 904cc with high-lift cams, lightened generator and re-engineered throttle bodies for increased mid-range performance. With 80bhp at the rear wheel and a healthy 60 ft Ib of torque at just 4500rpm, the 904S boasts a 35 per cent increase in engine performance making it both exciting to ride whilst maintaining the reliability of this classic twin.

Increased power demands capable suspension, brakes and tyres. For this T3 turned to three of its long standing partners in the form of Michelin, ISR and Nitron Suspension for their expertise in design and application of race technology.

Newly-designed wheels allowed the fitting of 160/70-17 and 120/60-17 performance tyres. Whilst Nitron’s design flare crafted the utterly unique 43mm USD forks fitted with 20mm road and track cartridge units, Nitron also turned their attention to the rear of the 904S to produce four-way suspension units with modern performance whilst holding true to a classic look.

The bike’s ergonomic electronics are state of the art, brought to you in collaboration with T3 Racing and HM Quickshifter. HM are responsible for designing the acclaimed Strain-Gauge quickshifter system and produced the above as the world’s first plug-and-play electronic dashboard, used to great effect on the 904s. Featuring four different display modes this unit gives you illuminated and concise information to include Triumph’s EMS. Bar-end LED indicator displays are controlled in a unique fashion by a custom-built electronic system that gives the bike a unique and modern touch.

Once unleashed the 904S is brought under control by the custom-made six-pot mono-block calipers giving feel and predictability through twin 310mm full-floating wavy discs.

In keeping with the tradition of the heady days of record racing and the Ace cafe, the 904S has a bark as truly wild as its bite thanks to handmade stainless steel exhaust pipes which bellow that seldom heard unique British twin sound.

Whilst livery maybe the last component to be added, it is one of the most important as many gains can be lost here.
For this the Ace Cafe and T3 turned to Darren Horton Designs, Darren is both a designer and airbrush artist of major talent and thus was commissioned to give the Thruxton its custom paintwork. Here it was important to incorporate the classic lines of the original Thruxton whist giving the bike a unique contemporary look. Exclusivity was added with airbrushed artwork as opposed to vinyl and high-quality pearlescent paint.

The collaboration between T3 Racing, Ace Cafe and the Stonebridge Motor Company has brought together the classic days of ‘record racing along with the nostalgic richness of that time. All mixed beautifully with modern thinking and materials to bring you something that will always be special, welcome to the 904S.
