Aleix Aulestia Takes Best Ever Result At Donington Park!

T3 Racing and Aleix Aulestia enjoyed their best result of the season in the Pirelli National Superstock 600 race at the Donington Park round of World Superbikes this weekend, securing fourth place. Once again, the T3 Racing prepared Triumph Daytona 675R blitzed the top of the speed traps in every session.

Aleix got the weekend off to a strong start in first qualifying, ending the session in fifth – an encouraging result following some worry from free practice that he would once again suffer from arm pump. In an oddly fortunate turn of events, first qualifying ended up wet meaning the reduction in pace allowed him to ride smoothly, removing the arm pump issue.

The second qualifying session was even more successful than the first, as Aleix posted the second fastest time. Unfortunately, the worsening conditions meant only one rider was able to better his time in Q2 and Aleix would start from sixth position for Sunday’s race. Nevertheless this was his best placing so far this season and a true indication of his potential.

Aulestia continued his fantastic form into the race on Sunday, where he was unlucky to finish fourth after holding third for ten of the twelve laps. Once again, the T3 racing Daytona 675R and Aleix combination were the fastest Triumph by a large margin, with the next Triumph coming in eleven places behind them. Aleix was beaten to third in the final two laps of the race as his wet tyres suffered degradation as the track began to quickly dry out, forcing him to change his riding style.

Speaking after the race, Aleix said “Overall, I am really pleased with the weekend, although to have been running third for the majority of the race and to finish fourth is a little disappointing. The team and bike has been fantastic all weekend and although the weather made things tricky, I’m feeling good on the bike and have the confidence to still push hard.

I had four or five scary moments during the race because of how worn the tyres were, which made it very hard to get on the gas as fast as I wanted too and it only got worse as the track got drier towards the end of the race. Although at one point I did manage to close down second but I just could not quite make the pass. That being said, it was a really fantastic ride and it was still a great race so I am very happy and confident going forward that we can now challenge for top positions.”
