Snetterton Success

Snetterton saw T3 Racing continue their successful start to the season in the Motorpoint British Supersport and Pirelli National Superstock 600 Championships. T3’s newest rider, Alex Olsen, was the star of the weekend with a double podium finish, including taking his fourth victory of the season in the Supersport EVO class. Luke Jones secured a well-earned fourth in the opening Supersport race but unfortunately took a tumble in the second while in the Superstock 600s Aleix Aulestia just missed out on podium again after a superb ride from ninth on the grid right to finish fourth.

Alex Olsen’s continued success over the weekend sees him further extend his lead in the Motorpoint British Supersport EVO Championship, a full 52 points ahead of second place Grant Whitaker. Starting the weekend as he meant go on, Olsen qualified first in the EVO class and fifteenth overall, before narrowly losing out on victory in race one to David Allingham. The second race of the weekend saw him claim a fourth victory of the season, despite starting behind Allingham on the grid.

It was a frustrating weekend for T3 and Acumen’s Luke Jones, despite putting in a podium worthy performance in race one, he unfortunately had to settle for fourth after a very aggressive overtake pushed him wide demoting him from second. Jones commented about his experience after the race, “Four or five laps in I got pushed out really wide which meant I dropped back a few places and lost a lot of time which was quite frustrating. Even though I got past them again it was hard because every time I did get past they were lunging back at me in the corners and running me wide all the time. A tough race but I am still very happy with fourth!”

After race one the weekend did not get any less frustrating for Jones as in race two, despite riding a superb race and holding third for the majority of it, he unfortunately came off in the last lap.

T3 Racing’s Aleix Aulestia gave spectators a great show in his Pirelli National Superstock 600 Championship race by coming tenth at the first corner to finish fourth. Aleix held his composure over the course of the entire race, even when faced with the daunting task of passing the five very competitive riders ahead of him.

Aleix also continues to impress with his performance through the speed traps, his smooth riding style and the T3 engineered Triumph means he is the fastest Triumph through all three speed traps for the third time this weekend. Aleix spoke about the bike and his feelings about the next round. “The bike worked really well, the changes we made in the warm up really worked for the race and I was really able to push, it is just a shame we do not have two races. Now I am just looking forward to Knockhill, I am going to rest and recover and then really go for it.”
