Rob Guiver does the double at Cadwell Park

Rob Guiver and the Ace Cafe T3 Racing team now have a 56 point lead in the Cup championship after another win at Cadwell Park.

It was a tough race as Guiver was caught up in a battle with Taylor Mackenzie and Luke Stapleford. The three riders were trading places throughout the race and the Ace Cafe T3 Racing rider was so close to taking another 11th place finish.

Stapleford overtook Mackenzie and left him for Guiver to tackle. The Essex rider managed to chase down the Tyco Suzuki rider and move up to twelfth. From there he began chasing down Stapleford and was less than 0.1 seconds away from him for much of the race.

It was close but Guiver ended up crossing the line in twelfth, ecstatic with what he had achieved:
“The race was pucker, I got one of the best starts I’ve had all year! I was in a battle with three riders and it was pretty close but I managed to do some late braking and get through. That was definitely my best race of the year!”

We asked team principal Tony Scott how it felt to see his rider so happy: “We’ve been waiting to see Rob like that all season really. It’s always important that a rider enjoys riding the bike, if you don’t enjoy riding the bike then you might as well park it. The stage we’d reached was, strangely enough, all about seeing a smile!
We got the smile and he achieved his personal target which was to beat Mackenzie. We’ve seen him run up in eight position in the championship so we know he’s got the pace there now it’s about us tweaking the bike to suit him even more and keep that smile going!”

Team manager Ricky Chadwick was also extremely happy with the way the weekend went:
“Very good result, we’re really pleased. Really pleased with the way Rob rode too. He had a really hard battle with Mackenzie and he got him there in the end. The small changes we made are making a difference so it’s just onwards and upwards to Donnington.”

The team will be racing again at Donnington Park in two weeks time where Guiver still holds the fastest lap for the Triumph Triple Challenge.
